I'm sure this diary is repeating what many other diarists have already said. But I don't think it can be said enough. To repeat for the millionth time, and which will hopefully be repeated a million more:
Bush/Cheney ordered the torture of prisoners in an attempt to generate false information, in order to help start a war which killed hundreds of thousands of people.
This is, without a doubt, the worst thing any American President (or Vice President) has done in the history of this great country.
Yet, when reading stuff like this it's obvious that much of the media just doesn't give a shit. They're arguing about semantics, partisanship, vengeful Liberals, hard-wringing about upsetting Republicans, etc. Anything to avoid this:
Bush/Cheney ordered the torture of prisoners in an attempt to generate false information, in order to help start a war which killed hundreds of thousands of people.
The key issue isn't whether or not torture "works" or whether or not the public should know to what extent we should torture. The key issue is:
Bush/Cheney ordered the torture of prisoners in an attempt to generate false information, in order to help start a war which killed hundreds of thousands of people.
