This Sunday Congressman Joe Sestak (7th PA), who is still considering running for the Pennsylvania Senate seat, will take part in a town meeting on health care. My hope is that the compelling case for single-payer will move him to support HR 676, joining over 70 other members of Congress that support this legislation.
Now, I know that there are naysayers out there who say single-payer in not on the Washington agenda. Well, my reply is how many town meetings, forums, discussion groups and rallies have you organized in your locality? The only mechanism that will drive this issue is our energy and commitment. Single-payer is the right way to go. The majority of Americans and physicians believe we need a national, single-payer system.
Live in the PA 7th Congressional District? Come out and join us. If Sestak supported single-payer, a sizeable army of activists and health care advocates would be willing to support his run against Specter. We want a true Democrat in the Pennsylvania Senate seat.
