Here's the introductory paragraph from drbloodaxe:
The premise is simple. I'll post a weekly review diary around 10-11 EST Saturdays, wherein we all share our experiences over the last week in getting in better shape physically. Nutition and exercise are the most likely subjects of comment, but we want to know (if you're willing to share) your start weight and goals if you're trying to lose weight, or your BMI, or your starting exercise plan and goal, or however else you're measuring your progress. The more of us supporting each other there are, the more likely each of us is to meet our own individual goals, or so we hope ;)
I hope you guys know that I usually post around 7ish MDT, which works out to 9ish EDT (or 6ish PDT). :-)
Two mini-topics this week: (1) what's your goal for the month of May? and (2) how are you making use of the warmer weather?
Last week, I shared my thoughts on challenges. (By the way, I did lose the 1.5 lbs I aimed to lose in April.) Having a goal with a specific deadline helps. It's not way off in the distance--you have to get off your butt now, before that date evaporates. In that spirit, and because my April goal worked out, I decided I ought to make a May goal, too--I'm aiming to lose another 1.5 lbs. I also have a running mileage goal of 60 miles (I aimed for 50 in March and actually ran about 54). I'm participating in a goofy challenge at Spark People in which I'm keeping track of all trackable miles toward doing the length of the Appalachian Trail by Sept 22nd. I got 94 miles in late April, and I'm aiming for at least 200 more in May.
So... anyone else want to share your goals for May? Fitness goals, weight loss goals, whatever. Just expect to check in on them in June.
Regarding the weather... I realize that not all of you have had the soggy snowy April I have, but even with that, it seems like I got outside more. Yeah, the indoor exercise and indoor exercise equipment can keep one from losing their marbles during the winter, but it gets a little old. I've been enjoying doing more running, walking, hiking, and biking. I've also been weeding, and I have a ton of other yard work to do (yard work burns calories!).
Anyone else using the great outdoors as your gym? What are your favorite forms of outdoor exercise?
