I live in New York and I strongly support Single payer health coverage. I just finished writing to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and also to my Representative, Maurice Hinchey.
Usually Congress members don't accept emails from non constituents, but I also wrote to Senator Baucus and the email seemed to have gone through.
I am as outraged as Ed Schultz and many of my friends at Dkos. I don't know if writing to these people makes a bit of difference if they have already made up their minds, but dammit if they are bombarded with messages from people, either emails, phone calls and real letters, as well as letters to the editor in local papers, they have got to hear what we want.
This is what I wrote to all 4 of the Congress members.
I am one of the millions of Americans that support Single Payer Health Coverage. This must be included in the current debate about Health care reform, and sadly it is not. The usual profit making groups are the only ones at the hearings. Why is this? The only people who should decide the healthcare of a patient is the patient and his/her doctor. Not some HMO, or insurance company whose main motive is to make a profit for its share holders.
Single Payer Health Care please.
Thank you,
Update: I think this will work to get to Senator Baucus contact page.
