(crossposted from CobaltVA)
I receive pressers from just about every statewide race going in VA. (Except Mike Signer....hint, hint...)
Didn't even have to sign up for most of them.
I get Creigh's, I get TMac's,
(they always start, "Friend".
I'm not your friend, Terry.
George Allen and John McCain always led with that too.)
and I get Brian Moran's.
Here's one I got from the Moran campaign. I don't like posting press releases, generally, but I will make an exception in this case.
Because it concerns a major VA blogger who sold out the entire VA Democratic netroots.
I didn't think I could get any more disgusted with this particular person.
That's what I get for thinking.
Jump.
ALEXANDRIA – Brian Moran’s Campaign Manager, Andrew Roos, released the following statement in response to the unconscionable attack on Patrick Kennedy by Lowell Feld, a well-known blogger who endorsed Terry McAuliffe.
"I was shocked and appalled to read this horrific post about Congressman Kennedy. Terry McAuliffe has been touting the support and endorsement of Lowell Feld for months, and Lowell has consistently been one of his closest supporters, helping push Terry McAuliffe’s message day after day. I am calling on Mr. McAuliffe to personally apologize to Congressman Kennedy, but also to publically renounce all support and endorsement by Mr. Feld. This represents the basest kind of politics, and shows an incredible hypocrisy from a campaign that had promised not to go negative."
On March 12, 2009, blogger Lowell Feld proudly joined the McAuliffe for Governor campaign team (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/virginiapolitics/2009/03/mcauliffe_picks_up_support_fro.html). After McAuliffe received Feld’s support, he highlighted and embraced the endorsement during an interview on Northern Virginia’s FOX5 (link: http://www.youtube.com/... And as recently as May 8, 2009, the McAuliffe campaign featured the writing of Lowell Feld on the front of their website (link: http://www.terrymcauliffe.com/...
Roos continued, "Feld serves an important function for the McAuliffe campaign: Rebroadcasting their messages under the guise of an independent source. McAuliffe will have violated every principle his campaign has claimed to stand for if he does not publically disavow the author of this shameless attack."
Feld’s attacks on Kennedy are available by request.
And I immediately tendered said request.
Those who follow this blog and my work on Daily Kos know well that, to say the least, I am rather upset with Lowell Feld.
But this takes the cake.
Suffice it to say that, in retaliation for that endorsement, Feld proceeded to throw every wad of slime he could come up with at Patrick Kennedy.
And then....he scrubbed the post.
It won't fly, Lowell.
I will not reproduce his mudslinging against a Democratic member of Congress in the diary text.
Instead, if you wish to read Feld's scurrilous garbage for yourself, you may download the screengrab by clicking here.
Lowell, you need to go. You have sold out completely, and this latest excursion shows that you belong in the dustbin of blogger has-beens.
I never imagined I would one day develop a level of antipathy for Lowell Feld that exceeds the distaste I have for Rick Howell and Ben Tribbett.
It's really rather sad.
Deeds supporter or not, I join the Moran campaign in their call to Terry McAuliffe to "personally apologize to Congressman Kennedy, but also to publically renounce all support and endorsement by Mr. Feld (and) publicly disavow the author of this shameless attack."
But I'm not holding my breath.
