On a recent episode of The Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan was dealing with a dog who was neurotic about its food. It would attack its humans if they got to close while it was eating. So Cesar gave the dog a big meaty bone and went to work.
He approached the dog and the gop, oops, dog immediately began snarling, it's back-hair stood up and it wet itself.(Sound familiar) Millan guaged the situation. Tapping the bone now and then only to receive the same response. After a while he just remained firm in his stance and let the dogs mind go through all the phases it needed until it was exhausted with the struggle that was keeping it from the very thing it wanted.
I guess the question is what role are you playing? When you call your Congress critters and write your diaries and comments, are you the gnashing dog or are you the resolute, patient, and determined master?
It's definitely easier to be one than the other, but it's the high road that will bring the best results. There's nothing wrong with making your point, just make sure it's direct, strong and resolute.
IMHO, we've given the bad guys a bone called Public Option. They can behave and accept it or we can provide them with a total loss.
I know, you may think single payer is pie in the sky. I choose to see it as inevitable and imminent.
It's a hot stressful summer. The hospitals are busy. They wanted a delay. They wanted to kill the bill. They should have been careful what they asked for. We are broke, but not broken.
