Critical to any political encounter is the "define the situation." Bush used concepts like "death tax" and "clear skies" to promote his initiatives.
Fortunately, in the health care debate, "socialism" is losing its negative connotation. But success is far from guaranteed. And we need a negative frame for the insurance industry. I’ve gone through a number of frames. "For-profit" just doesn’t seem to be doing the trick for the general public.
My latest meme is "Deny Care." Virtually everyone I talk to is pissed off about being denied for some medical bill or preexisting condition. Below are some pairings for "Universal Care" verses "Deny Care."
Two choices: Universal health care or Deny Care
Universal care strives to keep people healthy and costs down.
Deny Care strives to make company CEOs multimillionaires.
Citizens vote for people running universal care.
Deny Care profits buy Congressional votes.
Universal care treats people equally
Deny Care is parasitic feeding on the sick and injured
Universal care produces healthier citizens.
Deny Care has a long history of criminal behavior
How about additional pairings?
