The Sons of Maxwell are musicans from Ontario, Canada who have become quite well known on the east coast for their blend of country and celtic music. Dave Carroll is the primary songwriter for the group and he is obviously not a man to piss off.
According to their Youtube post, the band flew on United Airlines in the spring of 2008 and did not have a good experience. After a year of trying to resolve the issue at the heart of their complaint, Dave told United he would spread the word of their poor customer service through song. He explained on his website:
At that moment it occurred to me that I had been fighting a losing battle all this time and that fighting over this at all was a waste of time. The system is designed to frustrate affected customers into giving up their claims and United is very good at it. However I realized then that as a songwriter and traveling musician I wasn’t without options.
This is the first of 3 he wrote in honour of United Airlines. A followup video is in production with the final song coming soon. His goal is to have 1 million people see this video! Enjoy.
I'm sure any of us who have travelled by plane feels his pain. I had one piece of luggage that arrived on the conveyor belt sans a wheel and with a footprint dead center of the bag.
I'd love to see this go viral. It really is a tale many can relate to. Haven't we all wished we could do something like this? Had the talent or money?
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

The story
UPDATE The Halifax Herald, the local paper for the Sons of Maxwell, have just published a story about the song and the video. Guess what. United wants to talk to Dave about his guitar.
Robin Urbanski, a spokeswoman for Chicago-based United, said late Tuesday afternoon that the airline has changed its course and wants to speak with Mr. Carroll today to settle the matter. She declined to comment further until she spoke to him.
"This has struck a chord with us," she said.
"We’re going to contact him directly."
Song 2 has already been written, recorded and a video is in production. Carroll said how song 3 turns out is all in the hands of United.
"They have a golden opportunity here to determine how Song 3 turns out," he said. "They can take an active part and if they want to turn this into a happy ending, they can."
