Nature is always abundant and generous with her beauty ...

Today's beauty merited three folders:
Rainbow - while hiking in the rain the sun broke through the clouds and created a rainbow
Awesome Dolphins - Close Encounters of the Dolphin Kind ... awesome!
Heron Hatchlings - hammerhead shark and the latest batch of newly hatched green herons, recently emerged from their eggs (these babies were present as eggs in my last sequence of photos of St. Petersburg)
While walking along the shoreline of St. Petersburg a woman in a wheelchair stopped and described the lovely sunset that she saw several days ago. That's what I love to hear. People really should learn to appreciate Nature all of the time. There is no excuse whatsoever for neglecting such a large, complex, ancient, beautiful, wonderful thing.
Did you read the New York Times Sunday Magazine article about the whales?
I could comment on it but I prefer that you read the whole thing yourself ...

I have never had any direct contact with the whales so cannot speak with any experience regarding the intelligence and self awareness of those marvelous creatures. I have spent a lot of time with the dolphins, though, and can assure you that the dolphins are an intelligent animal just as the Homo sapiens are an intelligent animal.
They are not intelligent in the human sense, though. Thank God! Any animal afflicted with human nature is a sad, sorry, miserable animal indeed!
The dolphins are intelligent in the manner in which the humans ought to be intelligent. Human Nature is just horrendous. Human Nature is a pure horror both to the planet, to Nature, to All-Life and also to humankind.
Do you know what would immediately solve 99% of humankind's problems? If humans were able to abandon human nature that alone would solve 99% of humankind's problems.
The dolphins aren't perfect but they are much better than humankind. They've survived and prospered for millions of years and spent that whole time playing in the oceans. Humans don't have such a long or glorious or happy or playful future. Not in the least. Humankind has run out of time and we've squandered all of our gifts and our planet and our future for nothing.
Humankind is pure tragedy. The dolphins and whales are wonderful.
