...in respect to getting the Public Option included, then it opens up a whole new perspective. There's a lot more things to do. Since the Dems had an awakening yesterday, why not do them? Here's what I'm getting at.
Without worrying about what Pugs think, then why don't we go back to promulgating Single Payer? Lets just do the whole thing and get it done. Insurance corporations won't be contributing to Dems much anyway for doing the P.O. so what's to lose? Help me out here!
If we're going it alone, let's re-enact Glass Steagal. Let's unwind AIG and all the other organized crime syndicates on Wall Street. Let's create a non profit public bank to help the citizenry. Let's set up a program that automatically revalues home mortgages to current worth and recasts every three months as long as prices keep falling and base payments accordingly. It's not that hard, really. Let's make unemployment compensation open ended instead of these haphazard extensions, at least until U-3 gets down to say, 5%. Let's get some trade laws going that treat America fairly for a change, going hand in hand with enticements to bring jobs home. Won't be popular with the WTO crowd, oh well, it's time we opted out of corrupt orgs anyway.
Culturally, we need to do a few things to revamp our standing in the world. Foremost, let's get the troops home. All of them. Afghanistan is a huge waste of our diminishing resources and we are still, still in Iraq. I for one would like to see our country finally stop exporting death, wouldn't you? Maybe Raytheon and Lockheed could make wind turbines instead.
Again culturally, Bush is living in a multi million dollar home out in Dallas instead of a cell in Leavenworth. Cheney is still snarling and being an asswipe. He and Feith, Rummy, Wolfowitz et al are still free men amazingly. As long as we allow war criminals to roam free and publish their memoirs we won't be much of an example to the rest of the world. This oversite needs to be rectified. There's a few vacancies out at Eglin AFB....
But you get the drift. Corporate America isn't going to be too pleased with this new twist on events, so why not just clean the whole house instead of just the 2nd bedroom?
I leave you with this thought. The on line community grows in power every day. Witness the abrupt turnaround by the Dems currently highlighted. As this power continues to grow, I believe the time will come when this very public forum will overpower corporate interests. Yesterday's "awakening" was a clear example of the future.
