Is it any wonder the American people are confused about what President Obama is planning in the way of health reform? "Reporters" like CNN's Ed Henry still can't get the most basic facts about it right in their reporting. Look at what he says about Obama's Wednesday speech on health care reform:
Top aides also continue to say the president will be more specific on Wednesday night than he has been previously about what he wants included in the reform bill, though they're still cagey on what he will tell Congress about major provisions such as the public option.
Aides say the president believes the option of government-run health care is a "valuable tool" but refuse to speculate on whether he would be willing to drop the option in order to score a legislative deal.
In his Monday speech, the president once again voiced support for a public option but mentioned it only briefly in one sentence — and did not offer a passionate defense for it.
Of course, the public option Obama is proposing isn't in any way shape or form government-run health care. It's government-run health care insurance.
Government-run health care would mean health care provided by doctors employed directly by the government.
A government-run health insurance option, which is what's really being proposed, means Americans will be given the option of buying their insurance from a government entity on a nonprofit basis instead of being forced to buy it from a corporation whose bottom line improves the more it denies care to its policyholders.
The difference in meaning is night and day. Either Ed Henry is a moron who's completely ignorant about what he's telling his audience or he's deliberately trying to mislead them.
