sQuick Diary, I just got off of the phone with Telefund Inc. I'm not sure who they are but they said they were calling on behalf of the DNC. "Trista" was her name. She wanted to thank me for all of my support for the President and the DNC.
"Trista" then went on to describe all the wonderful things that the plan the President proposed would offer. She listed getting rid of pre-existing conditions, capping out of pocket expenses, and the exchange. I then asked her to explain 2 questions for me:
- How does this bill contain premium costs(it doesn't matter if the plan does all these wonderful things if you can't afford to buy it?AND
- How does this bill prevent insurers from pricing people out the plans (all those folks with pre-existing conditions)?
I told her those questions have yet to be addressed. Also, with the Democrats having SUPERMAJORIES in the House, Senate, and having the Whitehouse a bill that only throws money at the insurance companies is unacceptable. Not having a Public Option was also unacceptable and the only reason I can see that a Demoocrat or Republican but especially Democrats would oppose it is because of all the lobbyist and special interest money that is being poured into Congress to prevent real healthcare reform. She then responded by telling me the following:
"Initially the Public Option would be offered to the very poor in urban and rural areas for 2 years. If after 2 years the Insurers do not bring down costs it would be opened up to everyone"
I then told her that IF that were the case and AFTER the President articulates it I would then be willing to go out and support that type of a proposal. Otherwise, I told her I am not interested in donating anymore time, sweat equity, or money to the DNC, DCCC, OFA, or even to the President himself.
