My first diary. Didn't see this question being put out so decided to go with it. That could mean either it's a ridiculous question, no one cares, or I was first. I hope it's the latter. Sorry if this is more of a rant, but I thought it was a valid question.
Yes, I know, easy first answer is "we don't want one". My point is that he is on every talk show spewing ridiculous talking points that then get repeated throughout the news cycle. I wondered why he got so much time, and where was our guy. I actually had to google just now to find out who the head of the DNC was, Tim Kaine.
This isn't meant to be a pro Howard Dean diary, just an honest question as to where the head of the DNC is. I remember seeing Howard Dean multiple times during the 2008 election and before. I don't even remember seeing Kaine being interviewed this last week, let alone anytime since his takeover in January. Is he just waiting until he hands over the governorship to McDonnell to fully take over the role, or is he so "behind the scenes" things won't change much in 2010.
That we are in power right now, so our side generally doesn't have to go out and fight the fight doesn't seem right to me. Am I wrong? I just feel we need to always act as though we are behind, remain visible and push our talking points over and over. I don't see that happening right now. I could give credit to Kaine for our win in NY23, but I think that credit belongs to the other side.
I hope to see Kaine a lot more, and soon. We have a big election coming up, and with all the infighting in the Repub party, we could have an excellent night.
