Boromir: Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him.
I think we've all seen the anti-equal rights ads with the wide eyed kids talking about how they are "confused" about a prince marrying a prince. These ads are apparently really effective because it causes normal, rational adults to suddenly think "OH NOES, TEH CHILDREN" and vote for bigotry and against equal rights for everyone.
So here is my idea for an ad the next time we have a vote on people's rights (I thought we were in a Republic, why are we voting on rights? nvm)
I'll use a boy with 2 dads, but it could be done with a girl or 2 moms, etc.
[CLOSE UP OF RIDICULOUSLY CUTE & TELEGENIC 5 YEAR OLD]
My name is Sean, and I have a story to tell.
[CUT TO SCENE WITH THE FAMILY PLAYING IN THE PARK]
[VOICEOVER]
That's me with my two dads, Chris and John. We love going to the park.
[CLOSEUP]
We went on a vacation together three months ago, which was great. But then dad Chris got really sick and had to go to hospital.
[SHOT OF SEAN AND JOHN WAITING IN THE HOSPITAL]
I wanted to go to the hospital room to be with my dad but the doctors wouldn't let us go. I asked my other dad why can't we see him and he started crying and said it's because the doctors don't think we are a real family.
I started crying too and I got so confused, I thought doctors are supposed to help people? I told John that when I grow up I'm going to make sure every family is treated the same. That made him stop crying and he smiled and gave me a big hug.
Thank you for listening to my story -- please vote [NO/YES] on [X] to make sure all families are treated the same!
