As a result of the healthcare debate, I think progressives must rally behind getting rid of some politicians that do nothing but serve their corporate masters and cave to teabaggers.
2010:
Blanche Lincoln (AR-Sen)
It's over for Blanche Lincoln no matter what...she has sealed her fate. Arkansas was already following the rest of the deep south in turning to Republicans and ditching their vestigial conservative Democrats. It has a sizable wingnut/teabagger base that will vote against Blanche no matter what. Her best hope was to energize the base and hope for a close victory, but that is no longer possible after her betrayal. The best thing Arkansas Dems can do is replace her with another moderate (a REAL moderate, not an insurance company robot) or progressive and hope/work for the best. Blanche is no longer electable, so she needs to be primaried. Simple as that.
Harry Reid (NV-Sen)
Can you say worst majority leader in history? I can. He makes Tom Daschle look like Lyndon Johnson. He sat and did NOTHING, never filibustered any neocon agenda Bush was ramming down our throats while he was minority leader, yet lets the Republicans filibuster every single bill even though he has 60 Democrats. He can't whip count for shit and is constantly caving to conservadems and his senate club BFF McConnell. He is completely useless, ineffective, and needs to GO. His kabuki theater with the extremely watered down public option will not save him, and the residents of Nevada despise him even MORE THAN ENSIGN. If that doesn't tell you he needs to go in a primary, nothing will. Is Jack Carter willing? Seems like it would be great payback after Reid endorsed Ensign over him in 2006.
2012:
Joe LIEberman (CT-Sen)
No brainer. This idiot is not winning another election and he knows it, thus his constant opposition to the Democratic Party to piss off the progressives that primaried him in 2006. The field is vast here for someone to step up against Lieberwhore, and whoever gets the Democratic nomination will probably win, as Lieberwhore's approval with Democrats and Independents is anemic.
Ben Nelson (NE-Sen)
Probably the most useless "Democrat" we have...he's conservative on every single issue. Even Arlen Specter is more progressive than him, and until recently he was part of the Party of No. Scott Kleeb?
And last but certainly not least:
Barack Obama (President)
Obama has been nothing but a disappointment for progressives ever since he's taken office. He has broken almost every progressive promise he has made, but makes SURE to keep his promises about neocon foreign policy like the War in Afghanistan. His agenda is center-right at best, and only gave the public option lip service while secretly pushing Olympia Snowe's fake trigger. Howard Dean or Hillary Clinton would both make great progressive primary candidates. At the very least, he'd have to stop being the same center-right conservadem he's been being for the past year.
So let's re-cap:
Health care heroes: Pelosi, progressive caucus, progressive senators
Health care destroyers: Obama, Emanuel, Lincoln, Lieberman, Nelson, Reid
