I feel like I'm back in middle school with all the rules that accompany creating a diary entry. How else do you diseminate an idea on Daily Kos besides creating a diary? I don't have 3 paragraphs worth of BS to write. The idea is in the title. Maybe DK should have some sort of tweety mechanism even tho I hate twitter.
I'm a big believer in personal responsibility and not waiting for someone else to fix a problem. You need to grab the bull by the horn yourself. Gov't will not do it for you. So, since 70% of GDP in consumers, consumers are responsible for reducing the world wide carbon emissions. The demand of goods and services drive the emissions. Nothing else. So here are a few things everyone could do to lower CO2 emissions. Use CFL bulbs in all outlets in which the bulbs are left on for long periods of time. Turn the thermostat to 60 and put plastic over drafty windows. Stop buying processed foods, they use huge amounts of energy to produce. Eliminate A/C in the summer. Drive less and drive slower. Don't water your lawn and don't fertilize it, Start a natural lawn. Recycle and compost your own excrement and stop using drinking water to flush it down the toilet. Compost your organic waste. Start a garden and grow stuff that makes energy sense (ex. winter squash doesn't need refrigeration). Don't use detergents with phosphates or Sodium hypoclorite (bleach ). That's just a start.
