but with Christmas, the offspring, the job, the everything...this issue went from "eeeeerrrrrrgg" (last week) to "huh?" over the weekend. Can someone please take a moment to answer my questions in the comments, if you have the time.
- Did they change the part where they can charge the sick and old more money for premiumes?
- Is there something in there that requires them to pay claims? Like some sort of list of covered services, or a clause where it says if a Dr. orders it, they must pay it?
- What happened with the Stupak for the Senate (ie Nelson and the abortion bruhaha).
- I hear the fine is the lesser of a bunch of things. And per person within the household. Can someone explain that?
- I heard that they are required to spend 85 percent of premiums on providing care. If this is true... I am of two minds. I am pretty sure I read in some Krugman piece that they currently spend 15% on administrative costs. If both those pieces of information are accurate, am I missing a logical point that means that this is not simply enforcing the status quo?
- IF I were an uninsured person with a pre-existing condition and I made 35,000 a year with 2 dependents, what would my health insurance options be under this bill? What would be true in the same scenario where the income was 55,000?
If you get the chance to clarify some of this for me, thanks. If not, no worries, I might find time to catch up this afternoon.
