Sean Hannity is an idiot. That said, he's put together a nice smear campaign on Alexi Giannoulias that I really hope I dont have to hear repeated in Mark Kirk attack ads for the next 10 months leading up to the general election.

Why elect a nominee fighting this baggage when we Illinois democrats have a true untainted progressive reform candidate in David Hoffman?
I dont doubt Alexi's commitment to progressive causes. I dont doubt that he is a good person. I do, however, follow banks and bank failures. I have a hard time with him parading as a crusader against Wall Street greed when his family sucked $70 million out of a troubled bank in '07 and '08 when regulators are now demanding that the bank raise a minimum of $70 million to not be seized. If that seizure occurs, taxpayers will be asked to plug that $70 million hole. Will Alexi (who got $2.5m of the $70m) and his family put back into the bank the $70 million the Feds are demanding the bank raise? Hell no - and I wouldn't either. But then again, I am not running for the US Senate.
David Hoffman is as bright if not brighter than Alexi, as committed if not more committed to progressive causes, and can go after Kirk without being on the defensive. Issues will be heard, not baggage.
I've read the comments about how Hoffman is doing Kirk's work, etc. This is Alexi's baggage, and if Alexi's campaign is bothered by Hoffman pointing out the obvious flaws with his candidacy - they are going to have a super hard time with the Republicans and Sean Hannity - who really know how to play the game - despite all of their other vast flaws.
