178 Republicans took position on the desolate plains of the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, dining table siege engines were rolled into place. Deadly after dinner mints were stacked ready for the bombardment.
Surely this would be the final confrontation on the road to electoral Armageddon, their choice of field, their choice of entrée after which the main dish would be a breeze.
The trenches were fully occupied and onto that shattered plain entered a lone Democratic warrior David President.
It was: Time! ROLL CAMERAS!! ACTION!!!
The attack was launched!
The republicans stormed the podium armed to the teeth with waffle and talking points:
But I had a conversation with little David Jr. and David Sr. And their families are struggling in this economy. His dad said words to me, Mr. President, that I'll never forget. About my age, and he said -- he said, "Congressman, it's not like it was when we were coming up." He said, "There's just no jobs."
Now, last year, about the time you met with us, unemployment was 7.5 percent in this country. Your administration and your party in Congress told us that we'd have to borrow more than $700 billion to pay for a so-called stimulus bill that was a piecemeal list of projects and boutique tax cuts, all of which we were told had to be passed or unemployment would go to 8 percent, as your administration said.
Well, unemployment is 10 percent now, as you well know, Mr. President. Here in Baltimore, it's considerably higher.
Now, Republicans offered a stimulus bill at the same time. It cost half as much as the Democratic proposal in Congress. And using your economic analyst models, it would have created twice the jobs at half the cost. It essentially was across-the-board tax relief, Mr. President.
Now, we know you've come to Baltimore today and you've -- you've raised this -- a tax credit which was last promoted by President Jimmy Carter.
But the first question I would pose to you, very respectfully, Mr. President, is would you be willing to consider embracing, in the name of little David Carter Jr. and his dad, in the name of every struggling family in this country, the kind of across-the-board tax relief that Republicans have advocated, that President Kennedy advocated, that President Reagan advocated, and that has always been the means of stimulating broad-based economic growth?

My translation:
Think of the children!
Forget we did so much harm for eight years now we have really good ideas.
This is all the fault of your leftist policies.
Forget Bush, JFK now belongs to us, and remember St Ronnie [whose policies started this mess: ed]!!
Obama's reply [in essence refer to transcript]
The problem is, I couldn't find credible economists who would back up the claims that you just made.
My translation;
Stop blaming me for your policies.
Stop making stuff up
Get real.

I wont run [I'll let the republicans do that] through the whole question and tear apart session as it the bones in the elephant graveyard are still fresh and it would be unseemly to gloat.

My Advice to Republicans
Don't waffle be concise and ask a ligitimate question you are not on the stump.
Be ready to be given a lesson.
Don't allow Cameras as shaking your head from side to side just makes you look silly.
Don't allow microphones as your whining about how forgotten you are makes you look weak.
Don't allow any notes to be taken because your subsequent spin might be held up to ridicule later.
Remember what you did the last time you were in power otherwise it will be thrown back in your face.
Actually next year just stay home.
Freepers reaction:
Did Obama flip the finger at the Republicans!?!
Why did Republicans allow this, they looked foolish.
I'll answer that one
No he didn't, he just ripped them some new ones.
They are weak when 'no' is not allowed.
Note Freepers:
Republicans always look better when they are allowed to rewrite history, its such a shame records of their failures exist for all to see.

Now there is some good news for the right
Forward onto the Fiasco in Nashville
Freedomworks declined to get involved from the get-go. The American Liberty Alliance pulled out. Erick Erickson at Redstate had serious concerns about the event. Now, Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn have withdrawn from the event, leaving Sarah Palin as the only major draw.
