I saw this headline earlier on the Daily Kos front page and was shocked (and more than a bit angry): "Third graders running RNC insult own donors", written by none other than Kos himself. The article rightfully brings out the ridiculous and derogatory portrayal of President Obama by the RNC.
But what's with the "third grade" reference? Reading the full piece, Kos goes on to attack the RNC for using the term "reactionary" to define tea party givers. He suggests that it is stupid or crazy to use the term "reactionary" to describe YOUR OWN PARTY's supporters. He's probably right.
But WHY bring young people into the mix by comparing the Republican Party's stupid or crazy antics to third graders? What exactly do 8 and 9 year old third graders have to do with RNC garbage?
Remarks like that never cease to anger me. It makes youth, third graders in this case, appear to be stupid or crazy or incompetent. What's the point of this attack, Kos? Did some third grader do something SO WRONG to you that you have to impugn ALL THIRD GRADERS by comparing them to the stupid, incompetent RNC?
It appears that on Daily Kos, a mostly enlightened and progressive group, one group still can be referred to in a derogatory and stereotyped manner-- young people.
If I was in third grade, I would be hopping mad to be compared to the RNC!
Kos, you owe the third graders of America an apology!
