OK I get the message loud and clear from the Democratic Party supporters.
"Just shut up and do what we say."
That is a winning strategy come November; since funnily enough we make up probably the most determined and vocal groups on the left.
Without our determined support to pass social legislation and turn round America's foreign policy of the last six decades there really is not much difference between the DC Dem's and the GOP.
I think Obama is a fine and intelligent man, a great orator and makes a wonderful change from Bush, however he is not the FDR of our times.
OK, that is who he is, I am certain his motives towards accord and bipartisanship are honest, even though this has caused a great deal of delay in getting things done.
It is not Obama who drives me up the wall it is the rest of the DC cabal, the Republicans are beyond contempt and the Democrats have decided re-election and financing their campaigns to be of higher import.
OK I can live with that.
What I can't abide is the left now being pilloried for our beliefs and set up to take the blame for the potential political disaster in November by fellow kossacks.
.
1] Diaries attacking Kos for his views.
I believe this is his site and I have seen nothing from his commentary to indicate he has substantially changed position since founding this site.
If you don't like the message there are plenty of other choices out there, I have always taken this site to be a progressive site that fights for more and better democrats.
I don't need diaries bewailing the fact that he is sticking to his well documented positions, I call that being honest.
He doesn't need any help from me as he his more than capable in fighting his own corner, but I will remind you that he founded the site upon which you disparage his views.
2] If you don't like progressives
There are plenty of sites attacking them daily for believing in Universal health care, there is a whole MSM and Republican party slandering them at every turn.
Just remember without this vocal base November will a sad day for us all. Appreciate all the work done during the Bush administration years to turn the republican majority into a minority, and also Obama was this progressives hope for change.
Shouting at us for bringing the Dem's down and setting us up for the blame later in the year is disingenuous, attacking Howard Dean when he is in large part responsible for the Democratic party majorities, is pathetic.
3] The Cheerleading on Afghanistan/Iraq
After fighting so hard against Bush's wars for many years to find myself in a tiny minority still opposing them is saddening.
We are still behaving as Imperialists for our own strange delusion that our security is somehow threatened by the Islamic world. I hate to tell you nation building in our own image is the act of an Empire.
All they really want us to do is leave, and our security agencies are more than capable of looking after the pockets of terrorists that would remain. The Bush administration ignored the warnings, I doubt we will do so again.
4] Criticizing Criticism
Sorry I cannot march lock-step with any political party, I also feel it my duty as a citizen [still] to point out when we are losing the narrative.
I feel that the HCR bill as it stands is a sell out and a failure and I agree with Dr Marcia Angell on this.
Is it the best we are going to get? Probably? However it is still a piece of rotten legislation.
The vote is now political and has nothing to do with health care.
5] Stupak and Nelson
Anyone asking me to swallow the garbage in the abortion amendments in HCR doesn't understand me at all.
Well I have had my say.
Have _ing great day
Alessandra.
PS
Trashing the Republicans is the way to go, they are the real problem. If you look at my diary history I spend most of my time attacking them. I wish more here would do so.
