Power is neutral. Power can be used for good or evil. Power itself is not good or evil. It just is. If you want to change the way the world works, or change your own life, you need power.
One of the most important kinds of power is the ability to make people do what you want them to do, to influence people, to persuade people. If you want to make the world a better place, you have to be persuasive. You have to figure out what people like and what can make them like and trust you.
Many liberals are afraid of this idea. They say "Oh people will just do what they want, and I won't try to influence them." So who are the only ones doing the influencing? The Televangelists, the Republicans, the liars... so of course they are the ones usually in control.
It's possible for us to persuade people without lying to them, we can do it in an ethical way, but we have to study it, we have to admit our mistakes. Admit not everyone likes or listens to us yet and figure out why. Why don't people listen to us, even when we're right? We have figured out ways to solve a lot of societies problems; yet our ideas haven't been put into practice. What are we doing wrong? How can we present ourselves in a way that is more persuasive?
Learn how to be persuasive, use that to get power, and use that to help people make the world better.
Liberals need to learn to see the world this way, or they will never have any ability to achieve their goals.

That's the whole diary. Haha, I was hoping to fit the whole thing in the intro box, but it was just slightly too big, so I split it in half.
I believe in keeping it simple sometimes.
