In the New York area? You're invited to an informative, funky, fun, free event on immigration!
Unbound Philanthropy, The Opportunity Agenda, America’s Voice, and a number of other organizations are sponsoring Immigration: Arts, Culture and Media 2010 – A Timely Conversation with Artists and Advocates.
The forum will be hosted at Florence Gould Hall, from 7 to 9 p.m. on 55 E. 59th Street, New York, NY and will feature a number of talented artists and accomplished panelists – and I’m not just saying so because one of them happens to be our very own executive director, Frank Sharry. No, in fact, this is quite the lineup – see for yourself:
Chung-Wha Hong, New York Immigration Coalition
Alan Jenkins, Executive Director of The Opportunity Agenda
David Henry Hwang, Tony Award-winning playwright
Mira Nair, Director of The Namesake and Monsoon Wedding
Martín Perna, Founder of Antibalas and Ocote Soul Sounds
Favianna Rodriguez, Printmaker and New Media Artist
Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice
The art of Kip Fulbeck.
Other panelists are still to be announced, so stay tuned. Also, the panel will be moderated by Emmy Award-winning PBS anchor and host of NPR’s Latino USA, Maria Hinojosa, with a reception to follow -- featuring the sounds of DJ Martín Perna.
But best of all – besides the subject matter, of course – is that the tickets are free; but there are only a limited number remaining. For more information (and to sign up for those tickets!), click here.
Just letting you know of one more awesome thing to do on a Wednesday night in New York City in the middle of April. If you get to go, enjoy!
