Remember the two despicable anti-abortion bills introduced by Oklahoma rethugs and supported by wingers ? One of them that required the pregnant women to go through a disgustingly intrusive ultrasound procedure to know the status of fetus before they get their constitutionally provided right to abortion ?

Well, don't worry.  The marines in the form of Dem Governor, Brad Henry, have arrived.

Via HuffPo (and h/t kossack marigold)

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry vetoed two abortion bills Friday that he said are an unconstitutional attempt by the Legislature to insert government into the private lives and decisions of citizens.

One measure would have required women to undergo an intrusive ultrasound and listen to a detailed description of the fetus before getting abortions.

But we are not done yet.

Lawmakers who supported the vetoed measures promised an override vote in the House and Senate as early as next week.

This is important because the last time he vetoed a similar bill in 2008, the winguts apparently overrode the veto only to be smacked down by a county judge.
....

More Gov Brad Henry

Henry said "it would be unconscionable to subject rape and incest victims to such treatment" because it would victimize a victim a second time.

"State policymakers should never mandate that a citizen be forced to undergo any medical procedure against his or her will, especially when such a procedure could cause physical or mental trauma. To do so amounts to an unconstitutional invasion of privacy," he said.

Cha ching...

He also vetoed the second bill  one that would have prohibited pregnant women from seeking damages if physicians withhold important information or provide inaccurate information about their pregnancy.

Govnor again on the second bill

But Henry said the bill would allow unscrupulous or negligent physicians to withhold or provide inaccurate information without facing the potential of legal consequences.

The fight is not over yet since apparently there are at least two other abortion bills before him including one that require a woman to fill up a lengthy questionnaire before she exercises her constitutional right. Talk about the gobinment taking over your healthcare. The rethugs accuse the dems of exactly what these MF'ers are doing.

You see - this is the reason we need dems in power regardless of how much we are pissed off at them for not doing enough for our causes. The rethugs and wingnuts are lighting these fires everywhere from Arizona to Oklahoma to strip the citizens of their rights and liberties. We can't be adding fuel to those fires or turning away from fighting them just because we are pissed off at the dems.

Update: Apparently, Brad Henry is not running for reelection. Thanks to GreenSooner below, you can donate to the dem candidate, Drew Edmondson here

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
