Well No surprise here, less than a week after signing the law it looks like the blowback on tourism has only grown by leaps and bounds and this is what the governor, with her tail between her legs, is saying now:
Boycotts of Arizona immigration law add up
"Brewer says tourism in her state was affected before the law, however. The governor is deeply concerned that the federal failure to secure our border has already harmed our tourism industry, Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman wrote in an e-mail."
Clearly the governor can read the tea leaves and she knows that she is going to be blamed for all the tourism that will be lost now that she has signed, as President Obama has said, this "misguided" and "poorly conceived" law.
But let me remind Governor Brewer that the federal government under a republican administration, that of George W Bush, pushed for an immigration bill that both addressed the border and it addressed the plight of the 12 million people who are already here, yet it was the republican party that KILL THE BILL. Sounds familiar?
President George W. Bush Continues Immigration Reform Push
"The first thing that we've got to recognize in the country is that the system isn't working. The immigration system needs reform. The status quo is unacceptable. Most Americans understand that"
