Hey, not much of a diary here, but I've been obsessively peeking every few minutes at BP's deep water cam every few minutes for the last couple days since I discovered the link, and all of a sudden in the past 10 minutes or so, it looks totally different down there...
Did something give away? Did something explode? What the hell? The water has been mostly clear for the past two days, except for the steady surge of thick oily gunk coming from the ruptured pipe or whatever it is. And of a sudden...
Well, see for yourself. It's changing every minute now. There was a lot of debris a few minutes ago, now the whole image is basically dusted out. Something changed.
People have been talking about a coming blowup, where the retaining walls or whatever finally gave way and the rate of oil release rose exponentially in an instant. Maybe it just happened. Or maybe it's something else.
I miss the older image, where you could clearly see the ugly oil boiling out into the pristine water, minute after hour after day. It was like some ongoing Yule Log video loop heralding the end of the Industrial Era, and it gave me comfort to click over to it every few minutes, not even sure why...
But this? What is this now? Has anyone seen any news on it yet? I haven't checked Twitter. Let me publish this pseudo-diary and then go look...
