I don't tend to comment on I/P issues, since a lot of the time, I don't particularly think one side is a whole lot more right or wrong than the other.
But I'll tell you what I don't like. I don't like the fact that the right wing in Israel so aggressively and arrogantly flaunts their authority and spits in the eye of Obama, who, like so many presidents before, is trying in vain to stop this madness.
I equally don't like the fact that each time the Likudniks and the Shas jackasses decide to go swinging their nuts all over the peace process and start settlement building and look the other way/cheerlead while the IDF collectively punishes Palestinians, shoots to kill on children throwing rocks, and fires missiles at buildings they damn well know are filled with innocent people, AIPAC, right on cue, starts saying "how DARE you tell us what to do? how DARE you?"
And I don't like how our own party doesn't stand up to them. Sick.
But do you know what else is sick? Raising children to be suicide bombers. Indoctrinating people who should be fighting like Gandhi for their freedom to fight like Bin Laden to stay enslaved and to cut your widow and children a check. Pretending, like Hamas, like you want peace when all you really want is to destroy Israel. Pretending like you don't want Israelis to live in fear of rocket attacks.
Pretending that a peace flotilla was nothing more than an out and out provocation, and you KNEW it.
We should be condemning them both. But sadly, it's too goddamn predictable.
I believe that this fight will end like the one between the Dems and the GOP will one day: demographics. Israel will be forced, eventually, due to the fact that there are too many Arabs in its territory, to try to live in peace.
The millions of people who live in the holy land and across the Arab world who want nothing more to live their lives deserve better. But they don't have a dog in this fight.
Not until they get their Gandhi.
