I've been meaning to send $100 this Summer to support the Democratic party. But I'm stumped this year about where the most effective place to send it would be. What do you think?
I identify as a DailyKos Democrat. I love Barack Obama. Nancy Pelosi is great. Harry Reid is more than good enough. I am not cynical about the Democratic Party. I think the contemporary Republican party is a dangerous neurosis rather than a philosophy of public policy. As Bill Clinton said, "politics isn't about miracles, it's about direction." We were headed in the wrong direction, now we are headed in the right direction.
My budget is usually pretty tight, but I have $100 this week to back up my beliefs.
My preference actually would be that Markos M. would set up a DailyKos PAC. I would like to support the political influence of this community and I share Markos' priorities and way of looking at our nation's political life. I trust him to set up a sound process for allocating PAC money. How 'bout it, Markos? Anything standing in your way?
But until then, I'm not sure where to send what small contribution I have.
DSCC?
DCCC?
DNC?
OFA?
The campaign of a particular candidate? Paul Hodes for Senator of New Hampshire? Jack Conway for Senator of Kentucky?
Should I contribute through a particular ActBlue Page?
Don't send the money to Democrats but rather to a lobbying organization such as Al Gore's Repower America?
Forget the Democrats, send it to Haiti?
How would you spend my 100 Patriotic Dollars?
