That's the answer to a Republican who claims deficits matter.
Their heros didn't think so. According to Dick Cheney:
"Reagan proved deficits don't matter."
It's that simple. You lie!
And furthermore, Reagan and the first Bush raised your taxes you hypocrite!
Liars and hypocrites - that's an effective campaign message to counter the hypocritical lies about deficits and taxes the right loves to harp on every two years.
Let Dick Cheney and Ronald Reagan be the spokespeople for why deficits are good. Where does the GOP go from there? Remember, according to Dick Cheney, deficits don't matter.
Even the Weekly Standard agrees with him.
The budget deficit may be larger than we would like, and Dick Cheney may have been overstating things a bit, but so far it hard to say that his view of budget deficits is clearly wrong.
Where does the Weekly Standard stand on deficits now? I'm sure they say deficits are the most evil thing on the face of the earth - liars!
The lesson here is, Republicans are LYING about the deficits - so call them LIARS whenever one of the hypocritical liars starts spewing off about deficits. Simply say, "Dick Cheney and Ronald Reagan believe deficits don't matter - are you calling Dick Cheney and Ronald Reagan liars?"
Whatever comeback they have, just repeat "You lie" or any variation, "Liar" ... "You liar" ... "You're a f**king liar" and don't getting into the reasons why, they know they are liars, so just call them out on it.
And hey Dem leadership, you need to come up with some less abrasive and more clever ways to get this message out, because it's true - everyone knows it's true and voters will respect you more if you show some balls and call the GOP out on their lies.
**Update:
From the comments, an even more glaringly hypocritical contradiction::
The Republican alterantive budget was released (1+ / 0-)
on April 1 (appropriately), 2009. It showed a projected budget deficit on one trillion dollars.
The GOP Congressional delegate thereby admitted that even they couldn't balance a budget (or even sharply reduce the deficit) in this economy.
