The focus here is ecological damage from this Deepwater Horizon blow out. Louisiana officials list these counties for oil pollution:
St. Bernard Parish - Oil in the marsh in Drum Bay southwest of Turtle Pen Isle; Chandeleur Island; North Island
Plaquemines Parish - south of Sandy Point; Shell Rock Beach; Petit Bay Chene Fleur; Bay Batiste northeast of Big Island; west side of Saint Marys Point; Bay Ronquille; Isle Grand Terre; South Pass.
Jefferson Parish - southeast of Elmers Island; Grand Isle; Caminada Bay; north of the Grand Isle Bridge.
Terrebonne Parish - south of Timbalier Island; Bayou Petit Caillou; northwest of Bodwin Point; Bay Round; Locust Bayou; Cooke Point.
St Mary Parish - southwest of East Bay; Salt Point.
St. Tammany Parish - north of Treasure Island.
Cameron Parish - southwest of Lower Mud Lake; Lower Mud Lake; on the shore east of Calcasieu Pass; Rutherford Beach.
Iberia Parish - Marsh Island; south of the Marsh Island shore; Southwest Pass.
This gets worse and worse.
BREAKING: BP and CG admit to subsurface leaks. MTBF :::
The reports posted at nola.com are maybe 1% of what happens. Many of the Cajun people think now that they will have to move away. One big wind comes, the area is done.
The statement through Admiral Thad Allen by way of BBC:
Three anomalies have been detected close to BP's blown-out well in the Gulf of Mexico, but none threaten the integrity of the capped well, a senior US official has said.
US Coastguard Admiral Thad Allen said that seepage found several kilometres from the capped well was not related to the operation to staunch the flow of oil.
Testing by BP had also picked up anomalies a few hundred meters from the well, and showed there was "some leakage in the capping stack", but this was not thought to be "consequential at this time", Mr Allen added.
One might assume that the "seepage found several kilometers from the capped well" could be related to the initial drilling operation and to the blow out event.
BBC US&Canada
These statements from Allen do an ungodly proportion of two-faced lawyering.
Sitting at 6,750 PSI, that structure called a "capping stack" is not where you want to see leaks.
Any leak is going to get bigger. What else ?
These folks are in over their heads. Have been since April 20th and for months before that.
