Today, I read with glee that the flight attendant who got downright mad at the bad behavior of a passenger was being referred to as a hero.
Across the land, people like myself took a moment to quietly rejoice that someone had the guts to respond to the lack of decency.
So let's take a moment here, to ask Where Have All Our Manners Gone? -- or...
Chute, gimme a brew; I'm outta here!
For those who have been away from the last news cycle, yesterday, a Jetblue flight attendant at Kennedy Airport responded to a passenger who cursed him out. Apparently, despite announcements to remain seated until the plane came to a stop, the passenger decided that announcement applied to other people, not to him. Passenger could do what he pleased despite the danger to others. He opened the overhead bin, despite the requests of the flight attendant, who received a whack in the head from the in-motion luggage.
Here's the news story: http://www.ny1.com/...
Adding proverbial insult to injury, the passenger refused to apologize to flight attendant.
Yes, I have observed that in the last bunch of years, despite an abundance of prescribed prozac and xanax, too many humans who share our world have behaved terribly.
I walk down Manhattan streets, smokers insist upon exercising their rights to indulge out of doors -- by blowing smoke right in the direction of others.
A fellow person runs to catch an elevator -- others have headphones on or look away, refusing to hold the door.
Every day, we hear about the dangers of using cell phones and driving. Yet people pretend that it doesn't mean them. I've seen people on the stairs to the subway, during rush hour, chatting away oblivious that an an entire city must step around them. Others continue chatting away, loudly sharing the most mundane details of their lives, holding up the line as salespeople try to conduct business and help them on their way.
Even here, on Kos, over the years, one can observe an increasing level of downright hostile responses, even when counter-productive to making a rational point. That hostility is quite counterproductive for "progressives" who supposedly pride themselves about caring for others.
Please share: Has the level of downright rudeness and complete lack of concern for others gotten out of hand?
Applause for you, Jetblue flight attendant.
