A GOP candidate shows his true colors in front of a group of local middle school and high school students at a debate. This debate was here in Panama City, Florida and he is one of the GOP candidates running in the primary. The winner will most likely be running against Alan Boyd. Follow me below the fold for a bat shit crazy hate fest (in front of children).
This is what I drank my morning coffee to as I unfolded my local fish-wrap.
A Congressional candidate told local high school and middle school students Tuesday that Islam’s plan is to destroy the American way of life.
"I’m totally against it. If I had my way, it would pretty much be over my dead body," said Ron McNeil, a candidate for the U.S. House District 2 seat, who was referring to a controversial plan to build an Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero in New York City. "That religion is against everything America stands for. If we have to let them build it, make them build it nine stories underground, so we can walk above it as citizens and Christians."
Now call me crazy, but what part of the 1st Amendment of our Constitution is so hard for these folks to understand? Were they in such a rush to get to their favorite (the 2nd Amendment) that they just skipped right over it?
Do they think somehow the Constitution is some ala carte menu that they can just pick over like at the Senior's Buffet at the Golden Corral? What made him think this was acceptable talk in front of CHILDREN? I am trying to control my anger right now but I'm having a very difficult time with this.
One student had the courage to stand up and challenge this fool on his assertions. The student rightfully asked what gave him or the Federal government the right to tell an American they can't built an institution? The answer was more pscho religious babble from McNeil:
"It’s our place as Christians to stand up for the word of God and what the Bible says,"
Get that? Screw the Constitution, it's all about the Bible. Not to be outdone in the crazy department, Dianne Berryhill (I) piped in with her ill informed opinion:
"If we were under Muslim law, you girls wouldn’t be sitting here showing any kind of skin. You would be in hot burqas and ... you wouldn’t be sitting in school,"
These people cannot be allowed to take the reins of our government once again. They WANT a theocracy and they care not a whit for the Constitution. At best they pay it lip service when it agrees with their beliefs or goals but in general they have no problem pissing all over it. Do we want people like this addressing our children? Do we even want them around our children? I for one will work even harder now to defeat these hateful, ignorant people because the fact is; They are the ones that are against everything this country stands for, not Islam.
Update: I didn't include the comments on the article from locals. They are even crazier and more offensive than the quoted candidates. If you have a strong stomach, check them out.
