I have some bad news for the cowards in the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security who consider plain old law abiding Americans who just want to guarantee that their drinking water is safe and clean to be terrorists that they are truly barking up the wrong tree.
In case you didn't hear, or read about this heavily blogged issue:
According to recently leaked documents, the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security has been tracking anti-gas drilling groups and their meetings — including a public screening of the film "Gasland," a documentary about the environmental hazards of natural gas drilling.
The office has included the information in its weekly intelligence bulletins sent to law enforcement agencies...
This is of course an outrage and was blogged in a lot of places including Rachel Maddow's blog.
Well, here's the bad news- for not just the police state mentality vigilantes who have been turning up the heat in the battle over the Marcellus Shale across Pennsylvania, but far more importantly, the pro-gas drilling fanatics who claim over and over that hydro-fracking has been going on for over 60 years and that there has never been contamination- now it turns out... lo and behold... there has been contamination!!!:
A private consulting firm says it found toxic chemicals in the drinking water of a Pennsylvania community already dealing with methane contamination from natural gas drilling.
Environmental engineer Daniel Farnham said Thursday that his tests, which were verified by three laboratories, found industrial solvents such as toluene and ethylbenzene in "virtually every sample" taken from water wells in Dimock Township, Susquehanna County...
Report: Fracking chemicals found in NE Pa. water wells
Folks this is huge. If the samples pass as evidence in court- a lawsuit was filed this week by the residents of Dimock- then the gas drilling moratorium in NY State will most likely be extended (it expires May 15th 2011, and we have to fight for it), and the rest of the country has a chance against these bastards.
