CBS News is estimating the Stewart & Colbert "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" attracted approximately 215,000 people.
This 215,000 crowd figure was supported by another estimate in the article that stated:
The New York Times' Brian Stelter wrote on Twitter during the event that the Park Service privately told Viacom there were "well over 200,000" people at the rally, according to an executive.
The crowd size of the Stewart/Colbert Rally dwarfs the one put on earlier this year by Glenn Beck.
The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on aerial pictures it took over the rally... It has a margin of error of plus or minus 10 percent.
CBS News also commissioned AirPhotosLive.com to do a crowd estimate of Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in August. That rally was estimated to have attracted 87,000 people.
So the Stewart/Colbert's rally drubs Glenn Dreck by almost 2.5 times as many people.
This must be a real blow to those at Fox News who were downplaying the numbers Jon Stewart would eventually draw after hearing him announce his intention to hold this rally.
Here is the link to the video and quotes of Fox announcers dismissing the numbers Stewart and Colbert would attract.
The most interesting quotes were here:
...when asked last night on the O’Reilly’s show whether or not they have a permit or something like that, Jon Stewart said probably not." Brian Kilmeade then delivered the Foxaganda, "I believe they do, and they are heavily on the line on this, but can you possibly outdraw Glenn Beck?
Sorry Brian it happened and it wasn't even close.
Finally, I was wondering how the other side viewed this rally. After reading some of the diaries over at Free Republic it seems that there is no question that there weren't any Tea Baggers, or Conservatives at Stewart's rally.
Even the title of the thread I viewed was filled with anger, which read as "Jon Stewart Rally Attracts Estimated 215,000 (MSM fudging the numbers again)". Yes, more truth that the right cannot deal with facts, since an independent third party provided this crowd size estimate.
So yes, there may be an temporary enthusiasm gap between the left and the right currently in terms of voting, but overall this rally confirms my belief that in the long run those that follow the Glenn Beck's and Sarah Palin's of the world will not eventually take over our country.
