While there appears to be mixed news for folks vested in progressing equal rights for GLBT, today delivers a kind of schadenfreude moment in the news. A name that fast became synonomous with gay hate, almost overnight, is about to go away.
Andrew Shirvell, who up to now held the position of Michigan's Assistant Attorney General to Mike Cox, is now standing in line for job opportunities like the rest of us. Shirvell is FIRED.
A hearing that was supposed to be held Tuesday was moved up to this afternoon. Philip Thomas said he showed up for the meeting and was read one sentence.
"They said essentially that as a result of Andrew’s conduct, it’s become impossible for him to carry out his duties as an attorney general."
Anyone who's ever had to deal with a hateful rightist pig like Shirvell knows that this won't be the last we'll hear of him. Sociopaths like him don't stop until they feel like they've been vindicated, or they've just won the fist fight. Keep watching for updates.
For now, that's Gays 1 - Hate 0.
