I swear, sometimes, I don't know which wing of US politics is more childish. For over two weeks straight, there hasn't been a single day without an I-told-you-so diary or an Obama-sucks diary or an Obama-rules diary or a why-the-centrists-are-wrong diary or a why-the-left-is-wrong diary on the Rec List.
Really? Really?!
Holy fucking shit, I am sick unto death of reading the same diary over and over and over. And to answer the suggestion before it is made, yes, I don't like it, so yes, I did stop reading them. Spare me the childish love-it-or-leave-it crap.
I've been here for a while now, and I am not remotely exaggerating when I say this has got to be the worst it's ever been in this site's brief history. And I'm including the Obama versus Clinton war that erupted during the 2008 primaries.
I want to make it a part of Daily Kos culture to respond to all future pointless bicker-diaries between the center and the left with comments of either, "Less filling!" or, "Tastes great!". I am not sanguine about the chances of this happening.
Let me tell you what I think will happen instead. Instead, I will be called a lot of names (mostly variations on "crybaby" or "troll") and have electronic fingers shaken at me. I will get a rousing round of storefront-sarcastic-comedians playing Cleverest Comment. And this is if anybody bothers to read or comment at all.
Not that I'd complain if nobody did. I would gladly see this diary sink like a stone through the Recent Diaries list and into obscurity-oblivion if it meant that some of the actually substantial diaries were being rec'ed up. I've spent the past two weeks watching diaries like this one and this one and this one and this one and this one drop off the Recent Diaries list with little or no attention paid to them. Meanwhile, every third exercise in fruitless venting is treated like a must read. This protracted, ridiculous, self-indulgent titty-pot-party is more than sad; it's disgusting.
If this is the best we can do, then we have no business smirking at the right. That's how bad it is.
Stop it. It's embarrassing. We're better than this.
