Basics:
- Owen, Myers and Saad get yanked.
- Brown, Pryor, and the other three 6th Circuit nominees get up-and-down votes. (Note: Brown may well lose an up-and-down.)
- Six Republicans agree not to go nuclear through the end of 2006.
- Six Democrats agree not to filibuster further nominees absent "extraordinary circumstances".
It's worth considering -- unless you believe one of two things are rock-solid true: (a) Frist cannot get the 50 votes he needs to invoke the nuclear option; or (b) a Democrat will not be elected President anytime soon, such that we need to establish ground rules for having
our nominees confirmed.
