This will be short, because really, the title says most of it. HR 3, the so-called "No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act," doesn't allow statutory rape victims to use privately funded health care savings accounts to be used to pay for abortions. It's pretty clear, from the title, how the Republicans have framed this legislation for media portrayal. "Taxpayer shouldn't be forced to pay for abortion." In the terse, punchy style of Hemmingway, you can understand their point in one short, declarative sentence.
By way of contrast, the "progressive," or "liberal" or "democratic" attempts at branding the legislation are largely confined to what are easily perceived as semantics. How f***ing bright do you have to be, people?
"Rape Re-Defining Abortion Bill."
"GOP Plan to Re-Define Rape."
"GOP Bill That Re-Defines Rape."
"House Republican Priorities: Jobs? Nope, Redefining Rape . . ."

These are the "Blue Dogs" who are in favor of forced pregnancy for raped children. If you are going to call them to protest their support of this disgusting bill, do yourself and raped children everywhere, and DON'T ask them why they are "re-defining rape;" semantic debates inherently favor those who frame the terminology. Ask them why raped children should be forced into pregnancy, birth, and parenthood, because even their own parents can't pay for an abortion out of their Federal health care savings account.
Why do they hate raped children? Don't raped children deserve our sympathy, our empathy, our support?
"Forced Pregnancy for Raped Children" beats "Re-Defining Rape." Every time. Get the idea? Pass it on.
And thanks for enduring my little rant.
P.S.
Of course, as soon as I publish this, slink puts up her rec listed diary about underage prostitution and the Super Bowl. So, if one of those underage prostitutes were to get pregnant from one of her johns, my guess is, she wouldn't qualify for funding, under this legislation. "Forcible rape." Did she fight back against the john on top of her, or was she "willing?"
