Yesterday was like a very long road trip - excitement segueing into boredom segueing into exhaustion as dusk fell. Cranky driver, cranky spouse, cranky kids in the back. Some of us just gave up and found motels, figuring that it would be better in the morning.
Morning dawned and we discovered that the starter wouldn't work, the battery was dead and the car had three flat tires. The kids were bored, the driver was hungover and the spouse was truly cranky.
We made phone calls, walked a mile to the nearest store, sat and read the local newspaper (Thanks, David!).
Late in the afternoon everything came together.
The motel owner let everyone stay until things worked out. The local mechanic drove over and replaced the starter, then recharged the battery. No charge! There was a tire sale at the local auto parts store. There were books at the store that the kids were begging to read, as well as the Sunday NYT and fizzy water and aspirin. The spouse found a restaurant that served the best late brunch ever.
Refreshed, rested, repaired, we drove off. And here we are in the new digs. Most everything is working, though the
furniture may be a day or two late.
So kudos, cheers, huzzas, to all of the tech folk who made it happen. We hope you get some sleep tonight, and someday get to eat the restaurant that serves the best late brunch ever!
