And faint it is.
My hope is, and has always been, that people might become informed about the troubled Middle East. I have made posts here with that intention frequently citing others' opinions, sometimes listing sources, sometimes pasting URL's. I cannot force anyone to refer to them or to do the necessary investigation. I can only hope.
Israel and its policies, and the United States’ support for them, present the gravest and most direct threat to peace in the Middle East, perhaps to the peace and security of the entire world. This is my opinion, of course, but one that I'm convinced that others share. A sober reflection on current and past events should be sufficient to enable those with open, enquiring minds to reach the same conclusion.
The United States of America has for many years chosen to support despotic regimes rather than the legitimate aspirations of the people who daily suffer under those vile, repressive governments. Today the error of this tragically mistaken policy becomes evident, often becoming clear to the most obtuse and ill-informed. The once mighty USA stands naked before the world. Repressed peoples have awakened and have begun to actively protest.
We live in perilous times. Reason goes begging, strident voices of ignorance and intolerance gain the day. Here on this site - Daily Kos - voices of reason and compassion seldom receive intelligent response. In lieu of reasoned response those unable to sustain an intelligent exchange resort to puerile name calling. It is, perhaps, a manifestation of just how sorely the educational system has failed to educate and how disgracefully the national media has failed to inform.
And now, let the name calling begin.
