About twenty minutes ago, the House passed H.R. 1, which contains all of the spending cuts that have been discussed this week. The vote was 235 yeas to 189 nays. (It'll be available here when the Clerk gets around to posting it.) While three Republicans---John Campbell, Jeff Flake, and Walter Jones---voted against it, for once Democrats were able to mount a united front. No Democrat voted in the affirmative.
The bill now goes to the Senate where it is sure to get a major makeover.
(Apologies for the brevity of this diary but I've been sick all week and am really tired. Source for the identity of the Republican "no" votes is here.)
