I am still kind of bruised and lost with the DK4 transition. Been reading, trying to follow, and absorb all the changes.
There are some familiar bits, there are a lot of other not so familiar ones. For the most part, it's just not in my groove yet, but...
I LIKE GROUPS. I really like this one, and the people I see starting to fill it out, so let's talk some: Please introduce yourself, what experiences led you to join, and most importantly, what your idea of the "Democratic Wing" of the Democratic party really is.
And that's not a challenge, or some cause to argue. I really want to know, so I can begin reconnecting here again, finding that sense of passion I had on DK3.
My idea below the fold
I think it comes down to corporate vs non corporate. Started using a tag "Coin Operated Democrats" for it, and will tag this diary exactly that way, because I think it fits.
Andymo0 (I think, and hope he remembers me and can correct the username) also expressed this as the not so powerful people vs the powerful people.
Either way, and maybe your way, the party is divided, and the single most clarifying political event of my life was Health Care Reform. It was that event, where the GOP stepped aside, leaving the Democrats to tell us exactly who they were, and the sad answer is not enough of them are Progressives.
I believe this is why we didn't really see progress at the start of the Obama Administration, and I also believe it's a real problem, because that corporate or powerful majority is coupled with Citizens United, leaving us, the ordinary, or not powerful people in a real jam.
Namely, we need a bigger voice. There are not enough Progressives right now to challenge the corporate status quo. We tread water here and there, but if you look at the macro view, we the people are still more or less taking it in the ass.
That's at a core level, why I am here. The fact that Slink authored this group just seals the deal for me. :)
I think I should add that the single most important thing that drives me is movement building. If there are more of us, and we are active, we can matter, and I think we need to matter, or soon we won't ever be able to. I believe that fully and completely.
So, what's your story? Do tell!
