No offense to burros, I love those guys.
I guess Steve Murdock is more of a jackass than a burro, seriously. This guy, let me tell you about this piece of work.
Texas demographer: 'It's basically over for Anglos'
http://blogs.chron.com/...
Today's Texas population can be divided into two groups, he said. One is an old and aging Anglo and the other is young and minority. Between 2000 and 2040, the state's public school enrollment will see a 15 percent decline in Anglo children while Hispanic children will make up a 213 percent increase, he said.
The state's future looks bleak assuming the current trend line does not change because education and income levels for Hispanics lag considerably behind Anglos, he said.
Unless the trend line changes, 30 percent of the state's labor force will not have even a high school diploma by 2040, he said. And the average household income will be about $6,500 lower than it was in 2000. That figure is not inflation adjusted so it will be worse than what it sounds.
"It's a terrible situation that you are in. I am worried," Murdock said.
Jesus, where to start.
1) Most of the European population in Texas is of German-descent. This would make the declining European population in Texas Saxon, not Anglo. Quite a demographer there Murdock.
2) Murdock is assuming that as the share of jobs goes towards the rising Hispanic population, the average incoming of Hispanics will not rise. He assumes that Hispanics are incapable of doing the same job at the wage.
3) It is not Hispanics lack of desire to get a high school diploma, it is the lack of educational funding, especially in south Texas, that leads a lot young Hispanics to quit school. This is coupled with the fact that many have to leave to help support their families.
4) The split has less to do with race, and more to do with privilege. The aging population wants to throttle education funding because they aren't exactly in elementary or high school anymore. It's a very greedy generation that is retiring right now, that is willing to loot future generations to ensure their generation gets all their entitlements without paying their fair share in taxes or fees.
5) It is not bleak, unless you are a Republican.
Seriously, I have never seen a demographer not only get his ethnic make up so wrong, but he also went the extra mile to assume Hispanics could never fill the gaps of the declining Texas Saxon population.
