I'm looking to do a collective challenge here, so I'm going to start doing a weekly bird photo event. The challenges will go up Wednesday nights @6pm EST. They will have themes, such as "best raptor photo," "best in-flight photo," "best hummingbird," etc.
The format, which will be repeated in each contest, is simple: you post a single photo, in response to the tip jar, with your best photo in the category. We vote based on recs. Whichever photo receives the most recs "wins." I would request that, as a point of etiquette, people do not reply directly to the tip jar unless they have a photo.
There's really no prize of any sort that I can think of. This is for fun.
So-- first contest, Wednesday evening... March 9th... and the topic is...
BEST RAPTOR PHOTO
So-- you've got two and a half days-- get your best photo into photobucket, web shots, etc and get ready to bring it.
Until then, feel free to use this thread to make suggestions of possible categories, post some of your really great photos to psych out your opponents, and just talk about birds and birding.

Just a note of clarity-- I'm primarily interested in doing this as a bird-focused competition but if other people want to do other topics, I'm glad to alternate the hosting-- maybe one Wednesday do birds, the next do other topics? Shadows, night, long exposure, landscape, people, action, politicians, etc?
