Long have the Republicans railed against the United Nations, because this body has denied them their cover for imperialistic wars, among other schemes. Long have the Republicans incited their base against the dialogue and discourse that happens in the halls of the UN, injecting conspiracy and hate against a body meant for understanding and peace.
The Republicans hate the UN because the UN tries, oh how they do try, to defend basic human rights for all our fellow humans on this small green and blue marble we share.
The Republicans hate the UN for that very reason, because they are against universal human rights.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Article 20.
* (1) Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
Article 23.
* (4) Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.
Here is a man, of American birth, who understood the purpose of unions:
Here is a pull quote:
"These are the values inspiring those brave workers in Poland … They remind us that where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost."
--Ronald Reagan kicks off his presidential campaign with a Labor Day speech at Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey. Delivered 1 September 1980
Here is a man who stood against everything that makes America great, speaking upon unions:
"We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers' salaries and take away their right to strike."
--Adolf Hitler, May 2, 1933.
This is not an exercise in Godwin, but a stark example of how the modern Republican Party is on the wrong side of Ronald Reagan, the wrong side history and the wrong side of universal human rights.
We are all human, we all have rights, and we all make mistakes. Scott Walker needs to realize just how wrong his mistake is.
For it is a universal one.
