ShelterBox on the ground in Japan
http://shelterboxusa.org/...
The latest reports coming out of Japan state that more than 215,000 people have been made homeless by the two-pronged disaster with the need for emergency shelter being the top priority.
TexMex here and obviously it is time to do what we know how to do. I say we because I don't do this alone. (I am out of the country and staying at a friend's house so limited internet access.)
The community known as the Daily Kos is a compassionate one. Back a year ago we showed what we were made up and through many small donations really MADE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of the Haitian people. We raised 140,000 to purchase 140 ShelterBoxes. I think in my humble opinion that it is time to take credit where we give to our charities of choice. Many of you, I know have been donating to ShelterBox. And I want to provide an opportunity to count up those donations and encourage others to donate and bring awareness to a fantastic NGO
ShelterBox.
Here is what is in the box.
Small donations added up to make a huge difference.
If you have a bit of money to donate toward disaster relief, please consider ShelterBox.
People that didn't have cash to donate, donated their time online tweeting and promoting ShelterBox. Please help raise awareness by tweeting and promoting awareness of ShelterBox.
Not a great diary but then the disaster in Japan is a terrible event. Also please feel free to write a better diary and join the ShelterBox group.
I cried and cried yesterday.
Now it is time to mobilize those of us who care about this horrible event.
I know people are donating to the union struggles in Wisconsin, but many of you are already donating, let count it!
