The recent assault on public radio and television is reassuring. Why should our tax dollars support media in competition with private enterprise? The next obvious step it to do away with public libraries, which allow potential customers to read books free, thus interfering with the earnings of authors but especially the potential profits of entrepreneurs who would rent these books for modest fees--the American way. Fortunately, public schools are being supplanted by for-profit enterprises, but not as yet in sufficient numbers! Public colleges and universities, similarly, have to be sold and replaced by for-profit institutions.
All police and fire departments should of course be put in private hands, which will save taxpayers money and assure efficiency. Think of the money to be saved by privatizing the army, the navy, the air force, and the Marine corps! The entire defense of These United States would no longer cost the taxpayer a cent.
Though the ultimate goal is to eliminate all public services, we might begin modestly by, say, doing away with public toilets, public transportation of all sorts, and every form of public assistance. The golden rule is that everything that does not earn money for the private sector has to be destroyed as socialistic and un-American. Just think of it: a perfect world of free enterprise with no taxes! Vote Republican!
