This has to be the stupidest balloon floated over Texas in awhile, which means something considering the three-legged dogs the Texas Democratic Party trots out. I have never been more embarrassed to be a proud Texas Liberal, with a big ol' L than I am today.
I hope people join me in shooting this balloon right the heck on down.
Sources: Sanchez likely to run for Texas Sen. seat

WASHINGTON — Democratic officials said Monday that retired Army Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez is expected to run for the U.S. Senate in Texas, giving Democrats a high-profile recruit to fill the seat being vacated by GOP Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Sanchez is a retired Army lieutenant general and was commander of coalition forces in Iraq when revelations about prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib became public. He gave up his command in June 2004 and has since maintained that he never authorized torture at the prison. He retired from the military in 2006, blaming the Abu Ghraib scandal for his retirement.
Last week, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., who runs the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said she expected to field a strong candidate in Texas. Two Democratic officials with first-hand knowledge of Murray's plans said she was referring to Sanchez.
The Associated Press reached Sanchez by telephone at his home in San Antonio, but Sanchez asked the reporter to call back in a few minutes. When the number was dialed again, the phone was turned off and went straight to voicemail. He did not immediately return a message.
NO. Plain and simple, if this is the direction the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee wants to take in Texas I will actively campaign for Gene Kelly. This is a non-starter, because even if he never authorized the torture at Abu Ghraib it shows he had no idea what was happening in his chain of command.
While Texas does honor its veterans, we aren't exactly fans of people whose lack of leadership leads to the besmirching of the name of our armed forces.
To say that the guy who had to retire because of the horrors of Abu Ghraib is the best that the Texas Democratic Party and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee can come up with in Texas is a slap in the collective face of all us Democrats who have weathered quite a Republican storm in the Lone Star.
It is not acceptable, will not be accepted, and we will gladly accept the powers that be's apology for even suggesting it in the first place.
Yes, we love the military in Texas, but we are not looking for a military daddy. We are looking for leadership, which Sanchez failed to execute otherwise Abu Ghraib would have never happened.
End of story, this balloon needs to be brought down like the Hindenburg.
