Thanks to your donations and the hard work of the Onomastic and the many diarist who participated we're able to repeat our efforts of past years. Netroots For The TroopsTM will be sending 300 Care Packages again. We'll keep shooting for 600 as long as there's a need, and thanks to you guys we haven't gone backwards in the numbers we are sending.
For the third straight year we'll be sending 300 Care packages, but our efforts go beyond what we do here. Our efforts continue to inspire others to do something for the troops. Dallas County(TX) Democrats came in too late to help us with our efforts but we discussed how best to send bulk items to our guys deployed to the most remote areas. If it can be arranged our guys will be chowing down on beef brisket, smoked sausage, smoked turkey etc from some Texas' best BBQ joints as well as chips and salsa (sent in bulk) and relatively fresh (corn) tortillas, again from Texas based manufacturers.
Even though we have ordered the products the need for funds continue. In assembling and shipping 300 Care Packages there are additional cost. We try to keep these cost to a minimum but they still exist and in the case of postage, it's a fixed amount. If there's anyone, group corporation who would like to sponsor some of the ongoing cost associated with NFTT please contact me via DK messaging or tony dot gattis at netrootsforthetroops dot com.
llbear and testvet will be posting a series of diaries over the next several days to help raise funds for these additional expenses. Please support their efforts with your diary recommends and additional donations if you can.
Again, thank you all and see you in Minneapolis!
The number for 2011 is 300 Care Packages to be assembled in Minneapolis on 18 June, that equates to approximately $50,000.00. Again this was decided upon after seeing we could assemble 300 in 45 minutes in Pittsburgh. The items we'll be sending will be comparable to what was sent last year. However, that list is subject to modification based on suggestions, request and needs. Btw, check out the NFTT website.
On with the games!!
Mojo Friday Guidelines
1) If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to receive mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2) Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3) You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4) You don't have to comment to recommend.
5) You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
6) Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments. Now, after 300, use a little common courtesy and be responsible in the number.
7) Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo.
8) TexDem (that's me) is not bound by the guidelines. Heh

B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.
C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)
D. At least 200 diary recommends. 300 would be better, spread the word.
E. And always, fun fun fun.
F. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by Woodtick.
G. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).
H. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 200 recommends, see guideline B)
I. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.)
