Not much of a diary, but there doesn't seem to be mention yet here on DKos of this morning's revelation, courtesy of Dane101, that the Walker administration seem to have taken a tip from the Arab Spring's villains and decided to trawl Twitter and Facebook for word of planned actions against the regime:
[...] Dane101 has learned through a direct, anonymous source that a state emergency response team has been operating out of the GEF-2 (101 S. Webster St.) building downtown specifically to monitor protest related activity on social media sites and elsewhere.
The team is allegedly coordinating with law enforcement to identify and shut down any major direct actions planned by protesters at the capitol, by watching things like the #wiunion hashtag on Twitter and related Facebook groups, etc.
Y-yeah. Not that it comes as a surprise that they'd do this in spite of the obvious terrible optics, but, in case you were wondering where the domestic-surveillance component of Wisconsin's continued slouch toward East Berlin was, there you are.
Also, you just have to check out the Twitter response to this news, in the form of the #GEF2 and #GEFU2 hashtags. Read them now before the better jokes scroll into oblivion.
